Best of BCWSA Photo Contest - Rules

As part of our "40 Years, 40 Stories, 40 Days" initiative, BC Wheelchair Sports is partnering with the BC Paraplegic Association to hold a photo competition. Send us shots of your best wheelchair sport moments: photos of athletes in action either in BC or abroad; podium moments; fun times on or off the court/playing field; even wheelchair sport fashion do's and don'ts. Just for entering, we'll send you a wheelchair rugby doll. The top 3 photos will win prize packages consisting of cash, BCWSA gear and BCPA gear. (Click here to check out the prizes).

Entering is simple:

1. Find your favourite wheelchair sports photo. You must be the photographer of the image (or have permission from the photographer to submit the image). The photo can be anything relating to wheelchair sports. If you're stuck on ideas, visit our Facebook page and check out our sample submissions. If you're currently involved in wheelchair sports, you can even take a photograph at a practice or event and submit it.
2. Email your photograph to arley@bcwheelchairsports.com. Be sure to include include:
1. Your name.
2. A caption for the photograph (where it came from, who’s in the picture etc)
3. Whether you would like a wheelchair sports doll for entering.
4. If so, please include your mailing address.

• Note: If you need to scan your photograph and don't have a scanner, this service is available at many business centers, photo labs (Black's photography, etc), drug store chains (London Drugs, etc) and even some libraries.

3. Your photo will be uploaded on to an album on our Facebook page. Send the link around to your family and friends and get them to vote for your photo by clicking 'like' and/or leaving a comment. You will get one point for each 'like' and one point for each unique comment. Please note that in order to 'like' a photograph, each Facebook user will have to become a fan of the BC Wheelchair Sports Facebook page. To do this, visit the page and click "like" beside the name.
4. The three photos with the most “likes” and comments by midnight of March 16th will win prize packages and cash. (1st place: $75. 2nd place: $50. 3rd place: $25). Winners will get to select their prize packages in the order of the number of votes they received. (I.e. The person with the greatest number of votes gets to pick first).

Guidelines

• You may enter up to 3 photos.
• You may only enter photographs that you have taken yourself.
• You may alter photographs using photo-editing software like Photoshop. You may also create photographs using screen caps of videos, provided that you have taken the video yourself.
• By submitting your photograph, you acknowledge that you are the creator of the photograph and give the BC Wheelchair Sports Association (BCWSA) and our sponsors permission to use your photograph in promotional material. You also acknowledge that you have obtained appropriate permission from any people in the photo.
• The winning photograph will be determined by the number of “likes” and unique comments the photo receives on our Facebook page. In the event of a tie, we will host a run-off vote for one week.
• The winning photographs will be announced on March 17th and the winners will be contacted via email to organize the transfer of prizes.
• The winning photographs will appear on the BC Wheelchair Sports Association website.
• The BC Wheelchair Sports Association reserves the right to reject photos that we do not deem to be in good taste or that do not fall within our guidelines.
